Swift River Reservation – Yellow Loop

Meet: Babbitt Wildlife Sanctuary, Nichewaug Road, Petersham, MA

Explore the Yellow Loop, a 3-mile moderate hike through one of the area's hidden gems. Step into the past as you wander through dense forest, passing cellar holes and stone foundations—the only remaining traces of the colonial-era farming community known as Slab City. It's a beautiful hike that combines local history with peaceful woodland scenery.

Optional Post-Hike: Join us afterward at the Petersham Country Store for a casual lunch. Grab a freshly made sandwich, wrap, salad, or other lunch favorite and enjoy it across the street on Petersham's picturesque town common—a perfect way to relax and socialize after the hike.

Mt. Norwottuck & Rattlesnake Knob Loop

Meet: Notch Visitor Center, 1500 West Street, Amherst, MA

Take in the beginning of fall foliage on this 5.2-mile moderately challenging loop through the Mount Holyoke Range. We'll climb Mt. Norwottuck and continue along the ridge toward Rattlesnake Knob, enjoying rocky terrain, beautiful forest, and scenic overlooks along the way. Expect some steeper sections and uneven footing on this more adventurous Hike Club outing.

Optional Post-Hike: After the hike, join us at Carr's Ciderhouse in Hadley. Relax in the outdoor cider garden with locally made cider and wood-fired pizza from Augustine's Pizza Club. Nonalcoholic drinks are also available.

Full Moon Hike – Mount Tully

Meet: Parking area at the base of Mount Tully, Mountain Road, North Orange, MA

Experience Mount Tully in a whole new way on this special full moon hike! We'll make the short but moderately challenging climb to the summit, covering approximately 1 mile out-and-back with some steep terrain along the way. We'll time our climb to reach the top before moonrise, giving us a chance to settle in and watch the nearly full moon rise over the surrounding landscape.

We'll descend after sunset, so a headlamp or flashlight is required. Sturdy hiking shoes and warm layers are also strongly recommended.

Mount Grace – Long Route

Meet: Mount Grace State Forest parking area, Route 78, Warwick, MA

Climb to the 1,621-foot summit of Mount Grace on this 4-mile moderate loop through the state forest. We'll follow wooded trails to the summit and fire tower, where we'll be rewarded with expansive views of the surrounding North Quabbin countryside. The route offers a great mix of steady climbing, peaceful forest, and a scenic summit destination.

Optional Post-Hike: Join us afterward at Element Brewing & Distilling in Millers Falls for locally brewed beer, cocktails, and a casual bite to eat. Element opens at 1:00 PM on Saturdays and offers a small food menu with burgers, flatbreads, snacks, and other options.
